Meet The Founder

Ivona, a registered nurse, mum and founder of Core Molecule.

Watch Ivona share the story behind Core Molecule and explain what women should know about choosing a high-quality omega-3.

About The Founder

I’m a mum, a nurse and I’ve spent almost 30 years working in healthcare. Core Molecule began during one of the most emotionally difficult periods of my life, although I didn’t know it at the time.

Three miscarriages in a short space of time. The losses came one after another. Then, finally, the joy of becoming pregnant - followed by months of feeling desperately unwell.

At the same time, I was trying to do everything “right”. Eat well. Get my nutrients from food. Eat oily fish for omega-3 because I knew it mattered for my baby’s development.

But then came all the other warnings. Watch the mercury. Avoid certain fish. Be careful where it comes from.

The advice felt completely contradictory. And if I’m honest, it was probably the beginning of my health anxiety too.

So I turned to supplements, thinking they would make things simpler. They didn’t.

Many capsules were enormous. The fishy taste repeated on me for hours. And the labels were almost impossible to make sense of.

Nobody explained what the dosage actually meant - or what I should be looking for during pregnancy. Nobody talked about freshness or oxidation. And the impact on our oceans was rarely part of the conversation.

I wanted to make my own decisions, but the information simply wasn’t there. Sometimes I found myself wondering why brands made it all so difficult.

The deeper I looked, the more I realised how noisy and confusing the supplement industry had become. And in the years that followed, it only became louder.

More choice didn’t mean more clarity. So I became slightly obsessed. Okay, more than slightly.

I started reading research papers and learning everything I could about omega-3. Dosage. Oxidation. Freshness. Sustainability. Why some oils tasted awful and others didn’t. Why the quality of the oil mattered so much - and just how widely it varied.

And as the years passed, I noticed that women were still asking the same questions I had once asked myself.

What is safe? What do I actually need? Can I trust this brand?

That was when Core Molecule truly began to take shape.

I didn’t set out to add another supplement to an already crowded shelf. Far from it. I was frustrated by what was already there and wanted other women to have the option I had spent years looking for. Core Molecule was built around that - and around standards I wasn’t prepared to compromise on.

A proper daily amount of DHA and EPA, at levels I had seen used in research - not the bare minimum we could get away with. Exceptionally fresh, low-oxidation oil. No unnecessary ingredients. No overpowering smell. And omega-3 taken directly from algae, without relying on fish or placing further pressure on our oceans.

Quality had to become an obsession.

And it did.

Core Molecule is deeply personal to me.

As a nurse, I look for evidence. As a mum, I know how important it is to trust what you’re taking.

Core Molecule is the product I wish I could have found all those years ago.
