1. Does my prenatal vitamin already contain omega-3?

Not necessarily. Many prenatal vitamins don't contain omega-3 at all, while others contain only small amounts. This isn't because omega-3 is unimportant but because oils are technically difficult to combine with vitamins and minerals in the same formula. If your prenatal does contain omega-3, it's worth checking how much it actually provides.

2. Why choose algae-derived omega-3 over fish oil?

Fish don't make omega-3. They get it from algae.

The omega-3 found in fish oil originally comes from algae in the first place, which is why algae-derived omega-3 is just as effective. The omega-3 is the same - only the source is different.

3. Is there mercury in algae omega-3?

No.

Mercury builds up as it moves through the ocean food chain. Fish accumulate it over time, whereas algae sit at the very beginning of that chain. High-quality algae omega-3 is grown in controlled environments, without the ocean contaminants commonly associated with fish.

4. Can I get enough Omega-3 from flaxseeds, chia seeds, or walnuts?

Not realistically.

Flaxseeds, chia seeds and walnuts contain omega-3, but not in the form your baby uses directly. Your body must first convert it into omega 3 molecules; DHA and EPA, and that process is very limited. This is why many women choose a direct source of DHA and EPA during pregnancy.

5. What dose do I actually need during pregnancy?

This is where things become confusing.

Many official recommendations focus on minimum intake levels, while many pregnancy researchers and clinicians use higher DHA levels during pregnancy. Core Molecule provides 500mg DHA and 250mg EPA daily — levels chosen deliberately to reflect the evidence we found most compelling.

 6. Why does omega-3 matter so much during conception, pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Omega-3 literally becomes part of your baby's developing brain and eye tissue.

Two important omega-3 fats are involved, and they play different roles. DHA, the omega-3 most closely linked to your baby's brain and eye development, provides important structural building blocks. EPA helps maintain overall omega-3 status and supports a wide range of processes in the mother's body.

Because your baby relies entirely on you for its supply, omega-3 remains relevant from trying to conceive through pregnancy and breastfeeding.

7. Can I take Core Molecule alongside my prenatal vitamin?

Yes.

Prenatal vitamins and omega-3 perform different roles and are commonly taken together. In fact, because many prenatals contain little or no omega-3, many women choose to add a separate omega-3 alongside their prenatal.
